Arabica-Coffee Futures Jump to Highest Level Since September 1997 in N.Y.

Arabica coffee for December delivery rose 2.05 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $1.89 a pound at 12:24 p.m. on ICE Futures U.S. in New York. Earlier, the price reached $1.905, the highest level for a most active-conract since September 1997. The commodity rebounded from a drop of as much as 2.3 percent today.

Coffee may protect against DNA damage: Study

Researchers from the University of Vienna, Nestlé, and the University of Belgrade report that paper-filtered coffee – the most widely consumed form in Central Europe and the US – may protect against oxidative DNA-damage.
